The night levels too are just breathtaking (at first), and sonic is detailed and doesn't look pixelated when there are parts when it zooms in on his facial features.Īnother downfall of all Sonic games. The cutscenes are extremely detailed and the metallic surfaces reflect images on their surface. (if you can even count that as a reason). The cheesy voiceovers could have been done without (they can get annoying and the cutscenes inbetween gameplay cannot be skipped so brace yourself).Īmazing graphics is probably the only reason to buy this game. Its not like they were the great masterpieces as seen in Mario and Zelda, but they did pretty well for a Sonic game, and didn't get too annoying. The songs weren't actually too bad, and didn't get on my nerves. The day levels consist of Sonic bolting through levels as quickly as possible, and do switch between 2D and 3D, which is pretty cool. The "unleashed" levels are really simple, swing the wii remote and nunchuck at fast and hard as you can to attack (which is one of the many reasons the game loses its shine) The nights levels too also get extremely old. Really average, Sonic really can only skid and do a quick sidestep (which was probably the most helpful and would have been cooler if more than 1 level required you use this to win). Yeah it was fun, after the first 3 levels.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, this is when Sonic becomes a beast of a creature than a hedgehog and you are much slower, can stretch your arms to incredible lengths, and run into a much larger amount of enemies than on day levels. It said there would be great new maneuvers to "perfect" the steer and control of the famous blue hedgehog, and they said there would be great new levels of gameplay where you become "unleashed" and wreak havoc.

Read full reviewįirst off, just let me say this first, this game did not meet the level of achievement that SEGA had promised. There are plenty of levels and extras to unlock. If players missed either of the original Sonic Adventure games, this is a worthwhile purchase. This game is a mix of the old and new, but looks and sounds better than ever. Instead, there are specific locations where Sonic must meet people located on a globe to advance the story. Another new feature is that Sonic can no longer wander the main map. It does take some time to get used to it. Some players may be disorientated with the switching between the normal and were-hedgehog modes.

The voice acting is again done by the same people who voiced the 4Kids Sonic X animated television series. The sounds of the world are very familiar and there is a lot of new music. The graphics and animation are better than ever. In addition, the were-hedgehog levels include a large sum of fighting and uses various combos that gain power as the game goes on.Īs with how technology advances, the Sonic games improve.

In Sonic’s power form, he is the were-hedgehog with some anamorphic abilities that allows him to stretch parts of his body. There are a few new additions, such as speed boosting and power sliding. In Sonic’s speed form, it is the classic run, jump and attack aspects we all know and love. The difference this time is that Sonic is the only playable character, as in the first Sonic Adventure game, but he has his speed fo rm and his power form. It returns Sonic and his friends to a simpler time where there is a minimum amount of blather to move the story along and the rest is completing some levels in a manner related to the different characters special talents. This game has been called Sonic Adventure 4. Eggman then dispatches Sonic and the powerless emeralds in to outer space only to crash in to the planet as the planet begins to split apart. Eggman catches Sonic and the chaos emeralds to drain them of their power.

Eggman is taking another attempt at ruling the world and this time he has prepared for Sonic the Hedgehog.
